Keep the Velorution Rolling!

There's lots of ways to get involved in the Bike Coalition! Take a look at these opportunities to volunteer your time, donate an item on our Wish List, or support a campaign:

Photographers— Take photos for our website and newsletters. Photos can be high resolution digital or prints. We want to create an image database of cycling on the Central Coast, from bicycling facilities such as bike lanes, paths and trails, to bike culture, events and inspirational people that ride. Member will be acknowledged on every photo used (if desired).

District Representatives— Establish phone trees, identify most-needed road improvements in your area, and stay abreast of new projects or developments. We're looking for reps in Paso, Atascadero, Pismo Beach, Grover Beach, Arroyo Grande, Nipomo, Los Osos, and Cal Poly.

Events Staff— Want to make new friends, have some fun, and help out the Coalition and your community? Then contact our ED, Adam Fukushima to find out how you can volunteer to help organize, staff, and produce the following events:

  • Membership Mixer: Casual get-together, possibly a picnic, or could coincide with a Thursday night Farmers Market in San Luis Obispo? Goal is to unite current coalition members and attract new members while having a good time.

  • Bike-In: Host a Bike-In night at the Sunset Drive-In movie theater. Target date: September/October

  • Bike Rodeo and Education: Support SLO Rideshare's Bike Safety Program. Rideshare presents Bike Safety info, conducts mini-bike rodeos, and organizes group rides at participating elementary schools. Target date: Spring 2006, call Rideshare at 788-2706 to help.

  • Events TBD: Use your imagination and come up with an event! Share your ideas with our ED, Adam Fukushima, or by phone at 541- 4076.

Board Meeting Attendees—Join other like-minded cyclists and pedestrians at the Coalition's monthly board meetings. We meet the second Thursday of every month from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Rideshare conference room at 1150 Osos St., Ste. 206, in San Luis Obispo.
