Bike Education and Safety Classes 2008
Locally certified League of American Bicyclists instructors have scheduled classes to educate and inform individuals about the rules and responsibilities of safe bicycle riding. Below are the various free classes that are available to anyone who is 16 years of age and older who is interested in learning.

Street Skills

In this four and a half-hour class you will learn how to safely and confidently use your bike for transportation. Whether you're a current or prospective bike commuter, a recreational rider, a touring or club cyclist, a parent who bikes with your family, or just want to get around town, you'll enjoy cycling more when you know how to operate your bike smoothly in traffic. Please bring a helmet and a bicycle to class.

"Ride Right" Classes

May 24th and November 15th: This five-hour one-day course offers a more in-depth view of lane positioning, speed positioning, and intersection negotiation as they relate to Vehicular Cycling. Also included are basic on-road mechanics (flat changes, brake, and deraileur adjustment). To complete this course the student will need to demonstrate competency in emergency manuvers and on-road Vehicular Cycling skills. Completion of Street Skills and this course will complete the LAB requirements of "Road 1". A helmet and a bicycle are required during class.

A prerequisite for enrollment in this course is the completion of the "Street Skills" class.
